DalamDuniaKitta, Midlands – Hujan es yang disertai petir bersahut-sahutan melanda kawasan Midlands, Inggris, Kamis (28/6/2012). Ukuran es yang berjatuhan itu sebesar bola golf. Hujan itu juga mengakibatkan banjir yang merendam rumah dan toko-toko.

Daily Mail melaporkan, sedikitnya 153 kali halilintar menyambar bumi. Sementara, es-es sebesar batu dan bola golf itu mengantam genteng dan memecahkan kaca mobil. Di Shropshire, seorang pria berusia 66 tahun tersapu banjir hingga tewas.
Hujan serupa juga melanda Tyneside. Di kota itu, kereta api berhenti beroperasi dan tertahan di stasiun Newcastle dan di MetroCentre Gateshead serta Ikea. Penumpang langsung dievakuasi karena air merendam stasiun itu,.
Seorang warga, Sian Colver, 29, mengatakan, “Cuaca benar-benar gila. Satu menit sebelumnya terlihat normal. Tetapi, tiba-tiba terdengar suara bersahut-sahutan seperti peluru yang memberondong genteng dan kaca. Saya kaget melihat ukurannya yang sebesar bola golf.”
